Greighlan Crossing 1st in all events at Pacific Northwest Highland Games, Off to Scotland!

July 27th and 28th marked the 77th Annual Pacific Northwest Scottish Highland Games and Clan Gathering in Enumclaw Washington. As is typical, it was a hot weekend, although not nearly as tortuous as it has been in years past. The Sunday even featured a little rain in the morning.

Greighlan Crossing competed not only in Grade 3 Medley and MSR events but also submitted 2 teams to the Grade 3 Piping Quartet competition. To up the ante a little within the ranks, we had one of these quartets formed from our top female pipers, and the other from our top male pipers. Lo and behold the women crushed it and took 1st in G3 Quartets. To their credit the Greighlan guys claimed 2nd place as well, and we’re very proud of both groups.

In the main events, Greighlan placed first in both Medley and MSR. Medley scores were 1,1,2,1 and MSR was judged 1,1,1,2.

While the 2024 BC Piper’s Assn competitive season is not quite done until the Campbell River games are behind us, the current standings and lack of a Grade 3 band contest at those games means that Greighlan Crossing Pipe Band are also the BCPA Grade 3 Aggregate winners for 2024! An Achievement the band is very proud of, and a welcome morale boost as we head off to Scotland for the first time this weekend.

With the North American season behind us, GCPB is excitedly looking forward to our first ever trip to Scotland. If you happen to be in the UK, please come out and see us at the European Pipe Band Championships in Perth on August 11th, the Buchanan Street pipe band performances at Piping Live on August 12th, or at the World Pipe Band Championships August 17th.

The band would like to extend a huge thank you to all our fans, followers, and supporters from this year and all those before. Your help and support has helped us greatly to achieve our most successful season in years and gives us great confidence as we go overseas. We hope you’ll continue to follow our journey and enjoy our music.

Here is our 1st place MSR set from last weekend. Enjoy!

Another special thanks to Melanie Brauner for taking some incredible photos of all the bands this weekend. Check out all here albums here: Melanie Brauner’s albums | Flickr
